As part of the 2022 Bond, Houston Elementary School has broken ground on a full modernization of the existing campus at its current location. The new building will feature flexible learning spaces to support a variety of learning styles, designed in partnerhsip with the Houston community. Project design began in spring 2023 and the modernized campus is anticipated to open at the start of the fall 2026 semester. During construction, school activities will remain in the existing building.

The Board of Trustees appointed volunteer community members to the Community Bond Oversight Committee (CBOC) to ensure that the projects remain faithful to the voter-approved bond program scope of work and to monitor and ensure the bond projects are completed on time, with quality and within budget.

Q2 2026 Updates:

Completed Activities:

Building C (Kitchen & Gym) tiles, masonry, and ceilings are complete
Building B (Studios) major installations, including the elevator and exterior glass
Overall site grading is complete, and permanent power is on

Ongoing Activities:

Electrical and glass work in Building C are nearing completion
Interior finishes, lighting, and glass work are ongoing in Building A, where the secure vestibule work continues
Canopy work is in progress

Upcoming Activities:

In Building C, finish specialty ceilings and metal panels before starting flooring
In Buildings A and B, finish metal panels and begin flooring installation
